A fresh name in documentary filmmaking, director Renato Borrayo Serrano was born in Guatemala, but moved to Russia in 2012. His first feature-length documentary Life of Ivanna was released in 2021. The film tells the story of Ivanna, who lives as a nomad in Siberia, herding reindeer. As her way of life is threatened by climate change, moving to a city and working for Gazprom seems to offer a solution for supporting her five children. The film was awarded as the best international documentary in Zürich, and it is participating in DocPoint’s International Competition.
