Born and raised in the Jiangxi region of Southeastern China, film director, cinematographer, and photographer Wang Qiong (b. 1992) is currently completing her Master’s degree in Philadelphia. In her work, she focuses on themes of human rights and societal inequality. Her debut film All About My Sisters, featured in the International Competition of DocPoint, was filmed over seven years and deals with China’s one child policy’s effects on her own family of six. Wang is planning on a tetralogy of films based on the four stages of life according to Buddhist faith: following her birth-themed debut, the next three films will focus on death, illness, and aging. Part two, The Last Nail, is already in production.
